Katie Muth, PA State Senate
Sports medicine professor advocates science-based approach to public policy
Katie Muth is running for State Senate to enact wage equality and end the "pay-to-play" political atmosphere in Pennsylvania. Democrats need to pick up just one seat in the State Senate in order to end a Republican supermajority.
Raised in a military family by a single father, Muth is a professor of sports medicine with a passion for a science-based approach to public policy.
Muth is running against incumbent Republican Sen. John Rafferty, who has demonstrated a history of right-wing political views. Rafferty sponsored one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country and has vowed to tear up the Affordable Care Act and end protections for people with pre-existing medical conditions.
Pennsylvania’s State Senate District 44 is northwest of Philadelphia and contains parts of three "collar counties," including Berks, Chester, and Montgomery. Hillary Clinton carried this rapidly-diversifying district in 2016.
