2018 Result: Rothman loses by 2-point margin (51% to 49%)

Sara Johnson Rothman is a former prosecutor and school board member running to unseat an incumbent Republican in a district carried that Hillary Clinton carried by 14 points in 2016. Democrats can take control of the Pennsylvania State House in 2018; this race is a key pickup opportunity.

Rothman served as a deputy district attorney in the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office specializing in the prosecution of victims of sexual and domestic abuse. She is currently an attorney with Rudolph Clarke, LLC and serves as Vice President of the Upper Dublin School Board, where she played an instrumental role in resolving a contentious contract negotiation with the local teacher's union. Rothman earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska and her JD from Temple University in Philadelphia.

Incumbent Republican Rep. Todd Stephens has voted to establish work requirements for Medicaid recipients and advocates rolling back decades of regulations for Pennsylvania's oil and gas industry.
